J.M. Morgan is a poet and creative writer based in the United States. She released her debut poetry collection, silent scream, in 2021.

As a child, she grew up writing poetry and short stories as a form of escapism. Her feelings of inadequacy led her to remove most of these poems from silent scream. Nevertheless, she further cultivated her love for storytelling during her academic journey by digesting literature and conducting research. Her work centers on using her life experiences to create beautiful stories that center around trauma, loneliness, mental health, resilience, and body image. Throughout her writing, the reader can conceptualize what her characters are experiencing through her vivid imagery and eccentric characters.

Her writing draws on inspiration from authors like Dr. Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison. She enjoys reading Dr. Angelou’s poems, such as “Still I Rise,” and Morrison’s Sula. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, listening to podcasts like Therapy for Black Girls by Dr. Bradford, and playing The Sims 4. She is also opening herself up to new experiences, such as learning to play the guitar and engaging in public speaking. She hopes to continue writing vulnerable pieces as she believes that she still has a lot of writing left to do.

You can connect with her on Instagram (@iamjmmorgan). She enjoys hearing from her dedicated readers, who are her biggest inspiration.

All I want to do is write, and in my eyes, that is enough.
